The research groups of the I. Physics Institute B at RWTH Aachen University are involved in projects in experimental particle and astroparticle physics. The projects include detector development, construction of large new detectors, integration, commissioning and continuous operation of particle physics detectors, software development and scientific data analysis. A particular focus is on the nature of Dark Matter.

We participate in the AMS Experiment on the International Space Station and on the LHCb-Experiment at CERN, and have developed a new tracking detector (Scintillating Fiber Tracker) for the latter.

Additionally, we were involved in the CMS Experiment at LHC until 2015.

We offer students the opportunity to get involved in our research projects already after the bachelor thesis. Please contact me if you are interested.
